Tested during 2013, the Porsche 919 Hybrid for the LMP1 class was officially presented at the Geneva Saloon in March 2014. The new car, projected for endurance racing with the aim of bringing back Porsche to the top class category at Le Mans, had some teething problems, but it soon proved to be a highly competitive contender, facing the Audi and the Toyota teams. The 919 won the Le Mans 24 hours for three times in a row, in 2015, 2016 and 2017. That year Porsche decided to withdraw from LMP1 racing.
